The fried chicken with corn flakes – so good that your taste buds will dance a samba

by Kristel Cescotto

American fried chicken with corn flakes is evil, especially if you are on a diet.
Take from someone who cooked it, promised himself to have just a bite and ended up swilling the last of the plate, without any possibility of suppressing the impulse.

As you sink your mouth into its super crunchy breading with corn flakes and taste the heart of succulent paprika-flavored chicken, you think that Heaven really exists. Or, at least, your taste buds think that, savoring it, they will liven up with their own life. Don’t be scared if you hear them twerk worse – or rather better – than Miley Cirus: everything is normal.
It is after having tested the existence of Nirvana by dipping the fried chicken in the gherkin mayonnaise that you understand what love is. The true one. Fried chicken and salsa love each other madly, no one can ever say otherwise. A marriage of flavors of those that are indissoluble, which will make you think again about the undisputed existence of soul mates.

And they all lived happily ever after.

Who cares about the diet.

THE FRIED CHICKEN WITH CORN FLAKES – the recipe

INGREDIENTS (serves 3)

  • 400 g of chicken breast
  • the juice of a lime
  • A spoonful of paprika
  • Half a teaspoon of black pepper
  • extra virgin olive oil q.b.
  • (500 ml of whole milk for marinating)
  • 50 g of breadcrumbs
  • 50 g of corn flour
  • 100 g of corn flakes
  • 100 g of plain flour
  • A teaspoon of dried thyme
  • An egg for egg wash
  • Peanut oil for frying q.s.
  • Salt to taste.

For the super mayonnaise

  • 10 tablespoons of Mayonnaise
  • 5 pickled gherkins
  • Half a teaspoon of fresh grated ginger

HOW TO MAKE THE FRIED CHICKEN WITH CORN FLAKES

PREPARATION

  1. Remove the bones from the chicken breast; cut it into small pieces.
  2. In a bowl mix together paprika, pepper, lime juice and oil. Dip the chicken in it and mix well (with your hands) so that every single piece is seasoned in every part.
  3. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rest for at least half an hour in the refrigerator (the more time you have for this operation, the better – the ideal would be 24 hours). Tip: if you have time, you can think of marinating chicken in milk; in this way it will acquire an incomparable softness. All you have to do is cover the chicken, once seasoned, with milk.
  4. After the time dedicated to the marinade, drain the chicken from excess oil.
  5. Crumble the corn flakes coarsely with your hands and mix them with breadcrumbs, polenta flour and thyme.
  6. Wrap each piece of chicken in the flour, then roll it in the egg wash. Finally dip it in the bread crumb + corn flakes.
  7. Fry in plenty of seed oil. Drain  the fried chicken with corn flakes on absorbent paper.
  8. Prepare mayonnaise with superpowers. It will take a minute, just enough time to make fried chicken with corn flakes accessible, thus avoiding the risk of burns – that with fried chicken are around the corner. In a mixer pour the mayonnaise, gherkins, ginger and mix everything. Tip: If the super mayonnaise will left becomes perfect to accompany the crudites – personally with carrots drives me crazy.
