Naples and the infinite tastes of mozzarella

by The Rolling Forks

I call September the month of souvenirs: you sit down in front of the window with a mug of tea observing the colours that are slowly changing, lights at home are switched on earlier, the breeze is getting crispier day by day.

Memories of the past summer are still alive: I can savour every taste, every smell that filled all my senses for the past months: Yes, it is melancholic and nostalgic, but also intensely beautiful.

It has definitely been an unforgettable Italian summer – so many wanders around our incredible country!

The first stop has been in Naples – a boo would not be enough to try to explain this city.

Naples is in between sacred and profane, is chaotic and fascinating, it’s pure life through your veins. Naples means bright light and the Mediterranean sea that sparkle on the background of your picture.

It has one of the most incredible culinary traditions of the entire world; in every dish you can taste the generosity of this land and its people – pizza, sfogliatelle, baba’ and, above all, the white queen of the table: mozzarella.

Mozzarella lovers cannot skip pit stop at Muu for a delicious and informal lunch/dinner or even for an aperitivo. We have been to the Muu-Seaside (Via Partenope,18 – 80121 Napoli) but you can easily find the other two branches in the city center: Muu Bistrot and Muu Lounge.
Friendly service and welcoming ambience will make you feel at home in the blink on an eye!

As starter we went for a plate of Italian cured meat and the creamiest mozzarella ever: would you ever wish something more?
To follow small bites of buffalo mozzarella with pesto and apples, so crunchy and refreshing – to die for!
As a main Tuna Tartare with Mozzarella, Lemon from Sorrento and basil – simple yet so elegant: I can still savour the fragrance of lemon and the tuna melting in my mouth.

We paired our meal with Falanghina del Sannio, a white wine from the Sannio area, (one of the most vocated area to grow vines in the region). Campania is famous for its indigenous grape varieties that superbly match the regional food. This Falanghina didn’t let us down: round, voluptuous but refreshing and vibrant: the perfect pass par tout of our meal!

Looking back I can only think about all these good memories: summer 2017, remember me because I won’t forget about you!
