A Sunday in London @ The Pig & Butcher

by The Rolling Forks

This time I won’t take you on any trip or alternative destinations: today I will just talk about London, the city that I have been calling home since few years, the city that I learnt to love.

The theme of this month is happiness and London thought me that there is nothing better than the feeling of being happy and grateful for small things, wherever and whenever.

There are billions of things that make me extremely happy in this city (my sister, coffee shops, the new artisanal bakery down the road, my friends – only to name a few) but if I would have to pick one I would certainly choose an autumnal Sunday Roast.

After a crazy summer on the road, Sundays in autumn taste even better. There is a magical touch of melancholia that is difficult to translate in words: the city dresses up with stunning colours and a silver fog covers the quiet roads after the week’s rush.

With Fall knocking at your doorstep, a Sunday Roast become an unmissable must! Absolutely unbeatable is the one that is served at The Pig & Butcher (80 Liverpool Road, Islington, London N1 0QD), a gastropub located in the great neighbourhood of Angel, a stroll away from Upper Street – one of the most popular corner of North London.

The atmosphere is warm and relaxed; the friendly staff will welcome you from the moment you step in.
The menu is varied and seasonal, traditional British with a modern twist: meat lovers will hardly forget this place! Most of their products come from a farm which guarantee freshness and premium quality ingredients on a daily bases.

I have been there several times and I have never been disappointed!

Last Sunday I went for my absolute favourite: roast chicken accompanied by crispy vegetables soaked with the mouth-watering meat’s juice. I washed down the plate with my buttery Yorkshire pudding: heaven!
Portions are generous and you can pair your meal with wines or artisanal beers from their interesting drinks menu – this time I went for a bitter and refreshing IPA from a local brewery!

If you plan to visit London do not miss the chance of trying a real British experience – you will enjoy it until the last bite!
