All the colors of Venice @ Osteria Anice Stellato

In the heart of Cannareggio, near the Jewish ghetto, located along the canal, in a “fondamenta” of pure beauty (fondamenta means a street parallel to a canal other than Canal Grande and the lagoon), there is the Osteria Anice Stellato (Fondamenta della Sensa, 3272 – Cannaregio – Venezia).

At Anice Stellato you can eat genuine “farm to table” food. This place is especially famous for fresh fish, either served with citrus fruits or ginger or cooked in the most traditional italian healthy way.

In this delightful place the chef alternate the traditional onion “saor” with modernity like home made bigoli, served with Cantabrico anchovy butter and turnip tops.

Dishes are colourful and harmonious, representing Venice and its cheerful shades: those colours make your soul light and your palate happy.

The “must have” here are: cod (we went for the fried in batter one with yogurt sauce) and mouth-watering mixed deep fried fish in crunchy breadcrumbs!

The interior design is chosen with love and care, Anice Stellato is one of those places in Venice that you cannot miss – once you try it you will be impatient to go back again: locals are regulars here – the best sign of authenticity.
