Food & Wine Weekend in Paris: the unmissable La Cave à Michel
Often I feel the need to visit Paris
I really love this city: beauty is everywhere, the diversity embraces you, the fresh air wakes you up. And, of course, you always miss Paris.
Our last week end in Paris was, as always, intense. We didn’t sleep and we walked a lot, we ate, we drank and we discovered new places that we thought of sharing with you.
The Friday night started with a classic home party in a fantastic Parisian house (we can’t give you the address, otherwise Maria Giulia will kill us!lol), and continued at Lamano (10, Rue Papillon). Lamano is a very small and crowded club, where many djs play experimental music, futuristic fusion between salsa and new disco, with electronic notes.
The following day Passerini (65, Rue Traversière) had the hard task of cheering our mood up. Everybody knows the restaurant, but maybe not the pasta and chickpea of the chef. The best ever, believe me!
But the beautiful surprise of the vacation was La Cave à Michel (36, Rue Sainte-Marthe) in the bobo Bellevilearea.
The bar is very little, simple, welcoming and informal, with portoguese azulejos tiles brighten up the wooden countertop and tables, and outside it has a little courtyard.
La Cave à Michel is the outcome of a friendly collaboration between the caviste Fabrice Missouri and Romain and Maxime Tischenko, the brothers that run Le Galopin, the tasting menu restaurant located next door.
At La Cave, Romain indulge himself in the tiny kitchen creating small gourmet tapas looking like gorgeous jewels: excellent beef tartare with salted ricotta, fresh ceviche, Galizian octopus, boiled leek with coriander and the best mayo eggs of the city. The menu changes everyday, so you’ll never find the same dishes.
Happily, there is a lot to drink: more than 300 bottles of wine, especially biodynamic and natural wines. We choose Juste Ciel! of La Petite Baigneuse, a dreamy white wine easy to drink, with strong personality, complex and with delicate citrus notes.
Then we ordered a Mineral Plus of Franz Saumon, another biodynamic white wine that ends in a beautiful long lasting mineral finish.
So…what else guys?! La Cave à Michel amazed us and we would have never gone away if the bar had not close by midnight.
We recommend it to all of you! Cheers!
